Moong Dal Halwa Recipe
Moong Dal Halwa is a delicious dessert of Rajasthan.
It is a rich, velvety and pudding-like pastry. It is made with split yellow moong dal, this is a famous and delectable treat for the winter months.
Ingredients:
1. 1/2 cup split yellow
Moong dal
2. 1/2 cup unsalted ghee
or Butter
3. 1/2 cup sugar
(utilize ½ container + 2 tbsp more)
4. 1/8 teaspoon cardamom
powder
5. A Pinch of saffron
6. 2 cups of water
7. 1 tablespoon of cut
almonds for embellishment
Method:
1. Cleanly Wash dal thoroughly and soak in 3 cups of water for
at least 4 hours.
2. Drain the water and blend dal & make a thick paste, adding just enough water as needed to blend. Don't blend alot.
3. Now, boil water and sugar in a pan over medium heat for
3-4 minutes. Remove the pan from heat & add cardamom powder and saffron, set aside.
4. In a non-stick pan add moong
dal paste and melted butter, mix well.
5. Turn the stove to medium heat and fully cook dal
paste mixture. Now gently
press the paste, then over and again until the texture
becomes grainy and light brown in color. This will take approx 15
mins.
6. Lower the heat and add little syrup to the dal at a time. Cover the pan & cook for an additional 2-3
minutes.
7. Remove cover, stir and cook for another few mins. Turn
off the heat.
8. Garnish with almonds.
Moong Dal Halwa is ready to eat...!!!
