Samosa Recipe
A Samosa is a fried
or baked dish with a filling, such as spiced potatoes, peas, onions
& mix vegetables
Ingredients
For dough making:
- 1½ cups maida/all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp oil/butter/ghee
- ¼ tbsp ajwain/carom seeds
- Salt
For potato & peas filling:
- 2 large potatoes
- ½ cup green peas
- 1 green chilli
- ½ " ginger piece
- Salt
- ½ tsp garam masala
- ½ tsp coriander powder
- ¼ tsp turmeric powder
- ⅛ tsp amchur/dry mango powder OR chaat masala powder
- ½ tsp cumin seeds
- 2 teaspoons oil
- Oil for deep frying samosa.
Instructions:
To make dough:
- Take all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix it well.
- Add ¼ cup water and make it a tight dough
- Keep the dough aside for 30 minutes.
To make Potato filling:
- Cook potatoes in boiling water and peas until soft. Peel the potatoes & mash them.
- Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan.
- Add cumin seeds and let it crackle.
- Add crushed green chilli-ginger
- Now add potato-peas and sauté well.
- Add salt, turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
- Add amchur powder, Mix well and remove from the flame.
To make Samosa:
- Take the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions.
- Take one portion and roll it into a circle.
- Make cut in the middle of the circle to get 2 semi circles. Apply some water over the edges to make the edges stick.
- Take one semi circle and join the edges to make a cone.
- Stuff the cone with 2-3 teaspoons of prepared filling and seal the edges.
- Heat oil for deep frying. Now deep fry the prepared cones until golden brown from both sides.
Samosa is Ready to Eat...!!
