Samosa Recipe

A Samosa is a fried or baked dish with a filling, such as spiced potatoes, peas, onions & mix vegetables

Ingredients


For dough making:
  1. 1½ cups maida/all purpose flour
  2. 2 tbsp oil/butter/ghee
  3. ¼ tbsp ajwain/carom seeds
  4. Salt


For potato & peas filling:
  1. 2 large potatoes
  2. ½ cup green peas
  3. 1 green chilli
  4. ½ " ginger piece
  5. Salt
  6. ½ tsp garam masala
  7. ½ tsp coriander powder
  8. ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  9. ⅛ tsp amchur/dry mango powder OR chaat masala powder
  10. ½ tsp cumin seeds
  11. 2 teaspoons oil
  12. Oil for deep frying samosa.



Instructions:

To make dough:

  1. Take all the ingredients in a bowl. Mix it well.
  2. Add ¼ cup water and make it a tight dough
  3. Keep the dough aside for 30 minutes.


To make Potato filling:

  1. Cook potatoes in boiling water and peas until soft. Peel the potatoes & mash them.
  2. Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan.
  3. Add cumin seeds and let it crackle.
  4. Add crushed green chilli-ginger
  5. Now add potato-peas and sauté well.
  6. Add salt, turmeric, coriander and garam masala powder. Mix well and cook for 5 minutes.
  7. Add amchur powder, Mix well and remove from the flame.


To make Samosa:

  1. Take the dough and divide it into 4 equal portions.
  2. Take one portion and roll it into a circle.
  3. Make cut in the middle of the circle to get 2 semi circles. Apply some water over the edges to make the edges stick.
  4. Take one semi circle and join the edges to make a cone.
  5. Stuff the cone with 2-3 teaspoons of prepared filling and seal the edges.
  6. Heat oil for deep frying. Now deep fry the prepared cones until golden brown from both sides.
               Samosa is Ready to Eat...!!
