Momos / Veg Dumpling Recipe:
Ingredients-
Ingredients for Momo's filling:
• 1 cup finely chopped cabbage
• 1 cup finely chopped carrots
• 2 onion chopped finely
• Small amount of grated ginger
• 2 tbsp of oil
• Salt to taste
Ingredients for the Dumpling Covering:
• 4 cups of all-purpose flour (maida)
• water for making the dough
Method to make momo:
• Take the all purpose flour into a large mixing bowl, add water to make a smooth dough. Once the dough is prepared, keep it aside for about 5 minutes to make it soft.
• To make the filling for the momo, mix all the chopped vegetables in a bowl. Add salt and oil in it.
• Now roll the dough out, into a circle and add vegetable filling in the center of the rolled circle.
• Bring together the corners of the dough, fold and close the cover as a momo shape. Do the same with the remaining dough. You can make momos of different shapes and sizes that you like.
• Now keep the momos on a greased platter and place it in a steamer with water boiling. Steam on high for 5 to 7 minutes until you see a shine on the skin. Then turn off the heat and remove the momos from the steamer. Place them in a dish and serve hot with chilli sauce.
